The Wrangler JL is 200 pounds lighter than the JK. Wrangler JK models offer a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. Wrangler JL models offer a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. The front end of the Wrangler JL has been redesigned with a more raked grille to increase aerodynamics, new front fender flares with a running light and turn signal built in, and a larger, sportier bumper. The Wrangler JL has a larger rubber bump stop on the hood to protect the windshield when you fold it down. The Wrangler JL offers a new convertible option, known as the all-new premium Sunrider. Finally revealed at the LA Auto Show recently, the Wrangler JL keeps generally the same outward appearance and design, but there are a number of updates that make the Wrangler JL the most advanced Wrangler out there! This engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission but offers an 8-speed automatic transmission as well. A new engine option is available on the JL. This engine is a 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder turbocharged engine that gets 270 horsepower and 296 pound-feet of torque. This engine is available on all trim levels and comes standard with the 8-speed automatic transmission. Available in 2019 is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine. This engine is expected to produce up to 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, and it will be paired with a livelier version of the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Performance The new Jeep Wrangler JL sees some great upgrades in the off-road arena, with mechanical updates and more capabilities than ever before. The JL features increased ground clearance, reaching up to 10.8 inches (up from a maximum of 9.6 inches on previous models), and water fording depth is a maximum of 30 inches at 5 mph, without any additional packages.
